For families

Ask about the journey, not just the answer.

Simple questions can help a child explain what they noticed, what they tried and what they want to explore next.

Invite an explanation

Instead of asking only whether a project worked, ask what the child was trying to make happen. What part was interesting? What surprised them? Giving them time to explain can reveal the thinking behind a build, even when it is still unfinished.

Let the next question stay open

You do not need to supply every technical answer to support curiosity. Ask what they might try next and how they could compare the results. For guidance on suitable learning opportunities, talk with the academy about your child’s interests and experience.
